[intro]In this guide, you can learn how to add additional delivery charges to your products on your EKM online shop, both individually and using spreadsheets. [/intro]

[caution]Before you begin, it is essential to set up the relevant Delivery Method first, as these will generate the Additional Delivery Charges field on each of your products. [/caution]

Applying the Additional Delivery Costs Manually

If you only have a few items you wish to update with additional delivery charges or you wish to use a spreadsheet to update many products at once, it’s a good idea to add the charges to one product manually to begin with. If you then wish to use a spreadsheet, you can use that initial item where the cost has been added manually as a guideline when updating the additional delivery costs to the rest of your product range. 

1. On the Shop Tab or within the Inventory Manager feature, open the Add/Edit Product window for an item, and click the Delivery Charges tab. If you can’t see it, click More Options, and you’ll then find it listed on the left-hand side:

2. Scroll down to the appropriate Delivery Method, and add the relevant amount for that particular item in the Additional Chargefield provided, before clicking Save & Close:

[remember]If the product has variants, this modal will appear after you add the Additional Charge. Click OK to apply the charge to all of the variants for that product, before clicking Save & Close as normal:

3. You have now applied the additional delivery charge to one product. Follow the steps above to repeat this process with the rest of your products. Alternatively, you can use the steps below to update all of your items at once using a spreadsheet.

4. Within the Import/Export System feature, click Export Data on the right-hand side:

5. Select Export Products by clicking the arrow symbol on the right-hand side:

6. Click the green button on the right-hand side:

8. Select your file type:

9. When it is ready, click the link to download your spreadsheet:

10. When you have opened the file, you should have a spreadsheet which looks something like this. The first thing you need to do to the spreadsheet is to add the ‘Edit’ command so that when you upload the file back to your EKM online shop, the system knows that some extra details have been added to an existing Product:

[tips]Don’t forget to delete all of the rows in the spreadsheet that contain ‘Product Option’ and ‘Product Bulk Discount’ before you begin editing your spreadsheet. [/tips]

11. Click the A column to highlight it, and then click the magnifying glass icon on the top right-hand corner:

12. In the drop-down menu, select Replace:

13. In the window that appears, add the word ‘Product’ in the Find What field and the words ‘Edit Product’ in the Replace With field, before clicking the Replace All button:

14. This action will amend the ‘Product’ and ‘Product Variant’ rows to read ‘Edit Product’ and ‘Edit Product Variant’ accordingly: 

When you upload your spreadsheet to your EKM online shop, the system will be aware that some of the product data has been amended.

Adding Additional Charges

15. After adding the ‘Edit’ command to the Action column, your next step is to add the additional charges for each of your products. On your spreadsheet, scroll along until you find the column headers for your Delivery Methods, and then scroll down that column to find the additional charges that you already added to one product manually:

16. Using the manually completed product as a template, add the additional charges to the relevant cells for the rest of the products on your EKM online shop:

When you have finished adding the additional charges to each of your products, you need to delete any rows pertaining to the template product from your spreadsheet (as you added the additional charges manually, so it doesn’t need to be edited again). Finally, you need to save your finished spreadsheet and upload it to your EKM online shop

How will the Additional Delivery Costs display?

When a customer completes a transaction on your EKM online shop and selects the relevant Delivery Method, the platform will add the additional cost of the products in the order to the price of the shipping:
